MY Ten Nights

MyTenNights is a tech-for-good company that supports the Muslim community around the world to donate during the last ten nights of Ramadan, and more importantly on the propitious Laylat al-Qadr.

In Islam, the reward for acts of worship done in this one single night is more than the reward of those done in 1000 months.   In the Alliance Magazines’ quarterly of March 2018 it was noted that there are an estimated 1.6 billion Muslims, constituting 23 per cent of the world’s population, donating approximately $1 trillion a year.

Last year MyTenNights was able to assist 1700 of these Muslims to donate circa £xx,xxxx.  While past giving is no guarantee for future donations, MyTenNights has kindly offered…….

What the restrictions or conditions?

Tech for Better is a pro-bono programme to help non-profits design, test and build new digital service ideas. What will be created is a working proto-type from which NGOs can pilot new ideas and demonstrate its functionality to get further funding. During the course of the initial phases (Discovery and Definition workshop) it may become evident that a techonoligical solution may not be the most appropriate solution for the NGO's problem. The Tech for Better programme has 4 phases.

  1. Discovery Phase (2 Hours) - You start by defining your challenge, describing your users, and identifying their needs. Finish up by preparing a user survey, which you will conduct over the following week with your target users.
  2. Definition Workshop (2 hours) - Recap the results of the user survey and redefine the problem, identify a specific user journey that addresses that problem, and begin the design process with some paper prototyping. Note: during / at the end of this phase the developers will discuss with you whether the idea has enough potential to continue into development. Some projects may end here in discussion with the NGO.
  3. Product Owner Workshop (2 hours) - End by creating a series of user stories which can form the basis of your app.
  4. Development (3 - 4 weeks) - At this point, we are ready to schedule product development! A team of 2-4 developers will work with you to build a mobile web app that can be tested with users and form the basis of applications for further funding.
Overall Time Commitment - After the initial workshops, around 20 hours over the one-month product development period, testing the app, giving feedback and meeting with the developers.
